- Account info: username, email address, password (hashed), profile photo, bio
- Content: posts, photos, videos, stories, reels, comments, and messages you create
- Communications: messages you send to other users through our platform
- Profile details: name, website, location, date of birth, gender (all optional)
We also collect some information automatically when you use apachat:
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- IP address and general location
- Pages visited and features used within the app
- Push notification subscription tokens (for notifications only)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve apachat
- Create and manage your account
- Send push notifications you've opted into
- Deliver messages between users
- Process creator earnings and withdrawals
- Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
- Respond to your support requests
- Send important service updates (not marketing)
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
Media files (photos, videos) are stored via Cloudinary with secure access controls. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information via your profile settings
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data — contact us to request a copy
- Opt out of push notifications at any time in your device settings

6. Cookies
apachat uses minimal cookies and local storage to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (such as dark mode). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
7. Children's Privacy
apachat is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of apachat after changes means you accept the updated policy.
